The
school opens at 8.20am and parents of children in Reception and
Year 1 are welcome to accompany their children into their classrooms.
The
whole school gathers at 8.45am for daily assembly, which helps to
reinforce a sense of unity and shared identity in the school and
provides an opportunity to promote the ethos of kindness and care
for others. It is also a time to acknowledge and applaud endeavour
and achievement. The assemblies are non-denominational. The customs
and beliefs that children of all religions bring into the school
are recognised and appreciated. Hymns and seasonal songs are sung
and children are encouraged to play, sing, perform, recite and contribute
in an active way to these daily gatherings.
Lessons
begin at 9.00am and a balanced timetable includes 30-minute lessons
with a morning break and a play period at lunch time. Lunch takes
place between 12.00am and 1.30pm in three sittings in a dedicated
Lunch Room. Hot lunches are provided but those who prefer
may bring a packed lunch. Sport, art and drama generally take place
in the afternoon. At the end of the school day there is a variety
of after-school clubs that children may join (see details in the
After-School Clubs section).
Going-home
times are as follows:
Reception
and Year 1 at 3.10pm
Year 2 at 3.20pm
Years
3 and 4 at 3.40pm
Years 5 to 8 at 4.00pm
There is a late-club for
siblings and for those waiting for after-school clubs.
