Year 3 Art Exhibition Inspired by Karl Blossfeldt and Van Gogh

We are excited to see a fresh exhibition adorning the walls of the JCB this week. The latest bold and colourful art, a result of the fantastic creativity and hard work of Year 3, depicts extraordinary plants. The children began by closely observing flowers, seedpods, stems and leaves inspired by the photographic work of Karl Blossfeldt. The theme linked to their Science learning on plant parts. Imagining themselves as explorers, they went on to invent their own unique plant species.

Using oil pastels, the children explored hot and cold colours, took inspiration from Van Gogh’s bold palette and learned blending techniques to create impactful final pieces. Expect to see striking variety, with wonderfully imaginative names such as ‘Sun Power’, ‘Still Blendopias’, ‘Interagalactic Plant’ and ‘The Glow’ just to a name a few! Well done, Year 3!
