Community Partnerships (Radius)

Radius

“We are delighted to get this fantastic support from the parents and pupils at Notting Hill Prep. The funds raised will go directly to giving local children, who’ve been affected by Grenfell, a summer to remember. This included opportunities for arts, drama, sport and day trips, to help build children’s confidence, learning and social skills. Thank you to everyone at Notting Hill Prep for making this possible.”  Carol Ann Scott, Project Manager at RISE Kids

Radius is our community partnerships programme. We work closely with a number of local primary schools and charitable organisations, with a focus on improving and enriching the lives of primary-school aged children.

Through Radius we identify and support community-based endeavours that align with NHP’s core values. With the support of the Parents’ Association, the Foundation aims to provide both financial assistance and to share resources with the wider community through project funding and running regular events with local primary schools and organisations.

We believe all pupils mutually benefit from these partnerships, developing a motivation to help and raise awareness of the needs of others from an early age. Through striving to create a school environment that more closely represents the diversity of our local area, we offer a richer and more meaningful educational experience for all students involved.

Since its launch in 2020, the NHP community has raised over £70,000 for Radius projects, reaching over 1000 students and a number of local schools and organisations. Each year, we hope to be able to support a larger project through funding a specific area of need within a local school or charitable organisation.

Radius is able to provide financial assistance to projects in the region of £3,000-£5,000. If you have a local charity in mind who needs our support, or a local project focussed on improving and enriching the lives of local primary school aged children, we would love to hear from you! Please contact the Head of School Development, Imogen, on imogeng@nottinghillprep.com.

Current Projects 2025/26

Care to Grow Mentor Programme

Care to Grow exists to emotionally support children to help them learn and thrive. They are a team of child mental health practitioners working at a range of levels of expertise in order to provide high quality and good value sessional work within schools. They have partnership agreements with schools to identify the most in need or at-risk children who could benefit from a session a week with a dedicated adult. They work solely within North Kensington as the work there (whilst they were a community group from late 2023 onwards, before registering as a charity), showed the chronic level of need in that area, especially in response to Grenfell.

From September 2025, the NHP Foundation will be funding Care to Grow’s “mentor scheme” for St Francis of Assisi. St Francis of Assisi are within very close proximity to Grenfell Tower and have a number of children who were impacted directly by the devastating fire. This scheme, which will run from September 2025-July 2026, will coincide with the demolition of the tower. 5 children per term will be allocated to have sessions, meaning 15 children who need it the most will benefit from these sessions per year.

The Notting Hill Children's Community Choir

The NHCCC is a weekly community choir based on fun, not ability, which we launched in 2021 for eight participating local primary schools, including NHP. Up to 48 children meet each week at the Notting Hill Methodist Church to have fun, sing together and enjoy working with other schools.

We are currently working with Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary, Oxford Gardens Primary, Colville Primary, St Mary’s Primary, Thomas Jones Primary, Avondale Park Primary and St Charles Primary.

“The best thing about choir for me is making new friends from different schools. Our confidence grew more too because we realised the atmosphere was just so friendly.” NHCCC member

Avondale Park Primary Weekly PE lessons - Year 6

Thanks to the amazing support received from our NHP community, we pleased to be able to fund another term of weekly PE lessons at Avondale Park Primary, this time for their Year 6’s!

Previous Projects

Avondale Park Primary Weekly PE lessons - Year 5

For the Spring and Summer Terms, 2025, we supported the provision of a weekly PE lesson for Year 6 pupils at Avondale Park Primary School. Avondale was struggling to afford this essential part of every child’s development themselves and we are delighted to be able to help.

“Thank you so much for arranging this. The Netball is going really well and my class especially have improved lots and are showing good progress. The children have learnt so much and are really enjoying their PE” – Avondale Park Primary School

St Francis of Assisi Weekly Drama Club

We are funding a weekly Drama club at St Francis of Assisi Primary for the Summer term. Drama is a vital tool to enable children to express themselves in a safe space, something St Francis have seen have a hugely positive impact on their pupils. We are delighted to enable the provision of this free club for St Francis of Assisi pupils to continue for another term.

“Teachers have observed that drama club has helped with confidence, engagement and also reduced absenteeism in some persistent cases. We are thrilled to be able to offer this high quality learning experience to the children at school who would otherwise never be able to access this club. Thank you so much to all of you at NHP Radius for brightening our summer term and allowing our children such an enriching experience!” – St Francis of Assisi Primary

“We want to broaden Children’s horizons and ambitions. We want them to feel that regardless of their circumstances and financial constraints that they too can express themselves creatively and confidently” – St Francis of Assisi Primary

The Family Group - Avondale Park Primary

Through our Radius Partnerships Programme, we worked with Avondale Park Primary to part-fund The Family Group, a group therapy model delivered weekly to 8 families with children in Years 2 and 3. The sessions promote wellbeing and learning for children struggling socially, emotionally, behaviourally or academically over an 18 month period. The sessions allow for parents to share in a non-judgmental environment as well as form a strong support network between group members. The cost of this programme is £26,000 per year, of which Radius contributed £13,000 in the 2023-24 academic year.

The Children's Book Project

The Children’s Book Project re-home pre-loved books. In Autumn 2023, we donated over 1000 books, all of which fell into the hands of children who need them the most.

The Harrow Club

We worked closely with The Harrow Club which shares our vision of a society where all children and young people, regardless of background, can grow and fulfil their potential in a safe and supportive community. Founded in 1883, they work with some of the most marginalised young people in West London to provide accessible and high-quality opportunities, enabling them to maximise their life chances and to enhance their personal development. We will be partnering with them to support on the delivery of their Junior Programme, often a last resort for children aged 8-12 who are at serious risk of being excluded from their schools.

Approximately 70 children benefit from the opportunity to attend two afternoon sessions a week during term time, taking part in a variety of sports and educational projects encompassing music, arts and crafts, dance, drama, cookery and a homework club. The objectives are to improve confidence, communication skills and well-being, as well as teaching specific skills. The cost of running this programme is around £16,000 a year. Due to recent cuts in funding, they are currently running just one weekly session using limited funds from their reserves. Through our partnership, we raised £8,000 of vital funds to offer their second weekly session for a year – a lifeline for so many children.

Rise Kids

RISE Kids was brought to our attention by Young K&C, a charity that works with partner organisations to support vulnerable children in the local area. RISE Kids was initially set up by local parents to support children and families who have been affected by the Grenfell fire, RISE Kids hold vital summer camps for local children in need who have been worst affected by the pandemic over the past year. These camps are a lifeline for low income families in the local area, offering activities to help children learn and develop their knowledge and skills, whilst having fun and seeing friends. During Summer 2021, they ran a holiday programme for over 100 children.

Thanks to the support from NHP, we raised £5,343.75 for RISE Kids, which was then match funded by a £5,000 grant from Young K&C. This not only allowed them to offer a four-week programme of arts, cultural activities and sports for the children and the opportunity to visit places like the Natural History Museum and the Design Museum but to also run another activity camp in the October half term.

Avondale Extra

A charity founded in 2002 by local volunteers to benefit the children of Avondale Park Primary School. Their aim is to broaden experience and create lifelong interests in their pupils through funding activities (including sports, the arts, educational excursions and residential trips) and providing resources that make a significant difference to their lives. 44% of the students at Avondale Park, who attend school less than a mile away from NHP, are eligible for free school meals, compared to the national average of 13.7%. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit a number of these families particularly hard. The closure of schools has meant a lack of regular meals for many children, as well as difficulty accessing technology for remote learning. Avondale Extra is helping to bridge that gap by enabling access to vital educational resources such as laptops, providing after school provision, and a breakfast club run by teaching staff.

Almost £23,000 was raised by the NHP community in support of this fantastic initiative.
