Sports

The NHP Sports Department recognises that keeping fit and active has a positive impact on the children’s learning and mental health.  It promotes the old adage “a healthy body, a healthy mind”.

A wide and varied sports curriculum provides the opportunity to develop and hone skills, to recognise individual talent and ability, to learn about team spirit, to be comfortable with competition, to win and lose gracefully and of course to have fun and keep fit.

During their time at NHP children will be encouraged to try their hand at many sports including swimming, gym, football, hockey, rugby, netball, tennis, athletics and badminton.

Team games are introduced from Year 1 and a full fixtures list against local Prep Schools and within Kensington and Chelsea Borough leagues begins in Year 3.

Every child will take part in around 4 hours of organised sport scheduled into their weekly time-table.  Children who are keen to extend and advance their skills are encouraged to do so in pre & after-school clubs run by the Sports Department.

Facilities

A large assembly hall and all weather pitch can accommodate in-house sports activities for the Lower School children.

We are fortunate to have an array of local sporting facilities in walking or bus distance from the school.  We have commercial arrangements with multiple venues to deliver our sports programme including Kensington Leisure Centre (0.5mi), Westway Sports Centre (0.6mi), Linford Christie Stadium (1.8mi) and tennis and netball courts at Kensington Memorial (0.6mi) and Avondale Park (0.6mi).
