NHP were incredibly fortunate to be able to offer our old and unused school laptops to the Lewisham Donation Hub which does incredible work every single day to provide for those most vulnerable in our society.
The hub was initially set up by Laurence, a long-time family friend of our very own Miss Kirby’s, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and all the hardship that accompanied it for so many. This also coincided with an influx of refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine, all arriving in this country with very little to their name, hoping for a better life. The hub provides direct support to anyone who comes to them, with no judgement, and is entirely run by volunteers, relying on donations from the public. The support they offer comes in many forms, from food and clothing to furniture, tech and most importantly advice and support.
The items most in demand are laptops and phones, an essential element of trying to build a new life, which NHP was proud to contribute towards last week. It is wonderful to know that each of the 16 laptops we were able to offer will go towards allowing a family to access education, work and start to build a new life for themselves here in the UK.
