International Applicants

Notting Hill Prep is proud to welcome families from all over the world, and we’re delighted that the School now holds a Child Student Visa Licence. Our pupils bring a wealth of languages, cultures and perspectives to School life, and we know that moving country is a big step for any family, our Admissions team is here to make the process as clear and supportive as possible, from your very first enquiry through to your child’s first day.

NHP welcomes applications from families relocating to London from overseas. As a day school for pupils aged 4 to 13, we do not offer boarding.

Families applying from outside the UK should contact the Admissions Office before submitting an application to discuss availability, entry points and documentation requirements.

Notting Hill Prep holds a Child Student Visa License to sponsor students aged 4 and above.

Entry Requirements

English language requirements

Does my child need to be fluent in English to apply? No. We welcome applicants at a range of English proficiency levels and assess each child individually as part of the admissions process. What matters most is that we can see your child will be able to access the curriculum and settle happily, with the right support in place.

How is English ability assessed? As part of the assessment process, your child will complete an age-appropriate task in English alongside their Mathematics assessment, and meet with a member of our Senior Leadership Team. This helps us understand their current level and identify any additional support they may need.

Guardians

What information do you need about the guardian arrangement? Please provide the guardian’s full contact details, address and relationship to your child as part of your application, so we can include this in the visa sponsorship documentation.

Visas

What type of visa does my child need? Children joining Notting Hill Prep from overseas will generally require a Child Student visa, for which the School is licensed to act as sponsor for pupils aged 4 and above.

How does the School sponsor a visa application? Once a place has been offered and accepted, and the first term’s fees and CAS Administration Fee have been paid, we issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), which your family uses to apply for the Child Student visa through the Home Office.

Do parents also need a visa? This depends on your individual family circumstances and immigration status. We’d recommend seeking independent immigration advice, and our Admissions team can talk you through how the Child Student route works alongside any parental visa arrangements.

What happens if our circumstances change after the visa is granted? Sponsored students and their families are required to keep the School informed of any change in circumstances, in line with the responsibilities set out in the Sponsored Student Responsibilities document provided with your offer letter.

Assessment for international applicants

What does the assessment process involve?

  • Review of recent school reports
  •  A reference from the current school
  • An age appropriate assessment in English and Mathematics
  • An online or in person meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team

Can assessments be done remotely if we’re not yet in the UK?

Yes, assessments and meetings can be arranged online for families who are still overseas, so you don’t need to travel to London before an offer is made.

What are you looking for in the assessment?

We’re looking to understand your child’s current academic level, how they might settle into our curriculum, and any additional support, academic, pastoral or language-related, that would help them thrive from day one.
