At Notting Hill Prep, we offer two types of school bursaries to provide financial assistance to pupils. The Foundation Bursary offers a minimum of two places per year for Year 7, while our Jane Cameron Bursary is offered to one child starting Year 4.
Our bursary awards are means-tested and academically selective, meaning they are meant to reward pupils who show great potential both academically and creatively but cannot afford private school education fees.

The average cost for one bursary award per year is £20,000, covering:
- all tuition fees
- school trips
- uniforms
- enrichment activities
- educational incidentals
As such, we can only have a limited number of places per year. Before applying for our bursary awards, please reference the following criteria to see if you and your child are eligible.
Income Cap
To ensure our bursaries go to those who need them most, we employ means testing and ask that applicants’ household income not exceed £45,000 per year.
Sector Requirement
As an independent school, we offer bursaries only to children joining from a state school. Children from other independent schools will not be considered.
Academic Assessment
Our bursaries are academically selective. All applicants will have to submit a written assessment in January. If successful, they will be invited to a second round that includes a morning at Notting Hill Prep.
Entry Points
Our Foundation Bursary Award is only offered to Year 7 pupils (11+). Our Jane Cameron Bursary is offered to Year 4 pupils (8+) who show great talent in creative arts.
Duration
Bursary pupils are expected to transition to a senior school in Year 9 and continue their education. Leavers’ destinations for past recipients of our bursaries include Charterhouse, Rugby, Westminster and The Harrodian.
Boarding
A prerequisite to receiving the bursary awards is that families must commit to boarding at their chosen senior school as proof of their child’s commitment to education.
How to Apply
1. Enquiry
Contact the Head of Admission & Marketing, Rhonda Qually (admissions@nottinghillprep.com), and express your interest in a bursary place. Our admissions team are always willing to help chat you through your options!
2. Means-Testing
Submit financial documents for means-testing, including:
- proof of income
- tax returns
- employment information
- household financial records
3. Academic Assessment
Academic assessments begin in the January before the September start of the year. The first round will be separate maths and English assessments.

4. Home Visit & Financial Decision
All finalists will receive a home visit from the Head of Admissions & Marketing and the Head of the NHP Foundation.
Application Deadlines
Applications must be submitted by November of the preceding year. So, for a September 2028 entry, you must submit your application by November 2027.
For the upcoming round specifically, the deadline is Monday 16th November 2026 (for a 2027 entry).
