NHP ski trip is well underway and after 3 days of skiing, progress across the board has been really impressive! The weather has been perfect so far and we had 3 days of perfect sunshine followed by a great snow fall today which made for perfect conditions!
The evenings have been filled with fantastic activities. The children have had the chance to go bouldering, go on a torch walk through the local forest, toasting marshmallows around the fire after dinner and competing in the infamous Saas challenge. The children (and staff!) have loved every second of being in Saas-Fee.

It can’t go without a mention the phenomenal effort the whole school has made this term in support of some incredible charities. It has been beyond belief the amount of commitment and passion from our pupils, parents and staff that has gone into fundraising for a number of charities that all do incredible work around the world. Thank you to everyone involved.
Children’s Mental Health Week:
During Children’s Mental Health Week from 7th – 13th February, our school counsellor Mrs Kane was busy organising a cake sale in support of the charity Place2Be. A fantastic £154.80 was raised to support their vital work helping to improve children’s mental health in schools. Thank you all!
Blenheim House Fundraiser in support of Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation:
Blenheim were torn between which charity they wanted to raise funds for so they chose to split their fundraising efforts between two great charities. On 11th February, they brought the school to life by asking everyone to come to school dressed in their house colours, raising a brilliant £652.98 for The British Heart Foundation and £1077.98 (including £425 from the Year 6 Readathon) for Cancer Research UK.
Quizzing for bursaries:
Thanks to the phenomenal generosity of so many NHP parents and friends, and the persuasive powers of our Year 8 volunteers, NHP silent auction at the PA Quiz Night was a roaring success. The evening raised over £80,000 for the NHP Foundation in support of bursaries at NHP – a truly life-changing amount that will provide the equivalent of seven years of bursary fees to bright and deserving children from our local neighbourhood and an education that has the ability to shape their future. Thank you.
Lansdowne House in support of Choose Love:
On Friday 11th March, Lansdowne House celebrated their charity day by choosing to support Choose Love, an incredible charity that does whatever it takes to help refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue to food and legal advice. To mark this day of fundraising, they asked everyone in the school to dress up in the colours of flags from countries where refugees have fled from, and to donate at the school gates. Along with additional fundraising from the House readathon, everyone raised £1507,28 for Choose Love – well done all and thank you!
Year 6 Readathon in support of the House charities:
After half term Year 6 celebrated all things literary in their post 11+ Book Week with a trip to the Globe Theatre, a talk from an author, listening to stories read by Ms Goldman and Mrs Ibbott, a photographic competition, a mystery reader competition and a Readathon to raise money for House charities. A total of £2558 was raised for WWF, NSPCC, Cancer Research and Choose Love with several children reading for over 20 hours over 10 days. Milo in 6PT read the most with 24 hours and 15 minutes and won the top prize! Elgin raised the most money for the NSPCC and each child in Elgin received a book token. Well done to all the children who took part.
Red Nose Day for Comic Relief
Last Friday, 18th March, the whole school went red in support of Red Nose Day for Comic Relief, raising £1699,74. A big thank you to everyone for making such a big effort to dress up, cycle to compete for the most miles for their House, bake cookies to sell, guess the staff baby photos and much more. Congratulations to our crowned NHP Staff Baker 2022 – Miss Goodbody takes the title with her very ‘on-brand’ rabbit cookies!
Year 6 Charity Walk for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal
On Tuesday, Year 6 completed their 9-mile trek from Richmond Bridge to Hammersmith Bridge. Proceeds from the walk are being donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to help with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. It was wonderful to see the students wanting to help with an incredible £5998 raised at the time of writing, enough to feed 60 families for a month. Thank you to all who have supported the cause, and a special thank you to 6PT for helping in the organisation and branding of the walk.

Parent vs Staff Netball
It’s that time of year when competitive spirits are at an all time high for the staff vs parents netball match which took place Tuesday 22nd March. It was a close one but the parents team made it into the lead to take the glory. Congratulations to all who played and for helping to raise £242 for the NHP Foundation whilst doing so.
